Synopsis of Phantom of the Theatre

The story takes place in Shanghai in the 1930s. Gu Weibang (played by Yang Youning) is a little-known director. By chance, he meets a female star named Meng Sifan (played by Lin Xinru). The two hit it off and decided to shoot a film. A romantic thriller movie, Gu Weibang named it "Midnight Song". Everything went smoothly, and the actors joined the crew one after another, just waiting to start filming. Gu Weibang chose the Ligong Cinema as the filming location. Although many people warned him that there had been shocking supernatural events here and it was not advisable to stay here for a long time, the stubborn Gu Weibang didn't care. As expected, it didn't take long for many strange things to happen on the set. It wasn't until the actor who played the leading role died mysteriously that everyone realized how serious the matter had become. Gu Weibang's fiancée Miles (played by Huang Huan) came to the crew to investigate the truth of the incident, but it involved a dusty past between Gu Weibang and Meng Sifan.
