Synopsis of It Started with Eve

Jonathan is a well-known rich man in New York. Because he is seriously ill and feels that he is not going to die soon, he decides to meet his son John (played by Charles Laughton) and his fiancée Gloria. Unfortunately, Gloria was unable to keep the appointment on time due to an accident. In order to fulfill his father's wish, John found Anne (Deanna Durbin) who worked in the cloakroom and commissioned her to pretend to be his fiancée. What John and Anne didn't expect was that Jonathan was not only very satisfied with Anne, but also improved his condition and returned to health because of his happy mood. Jonathan held a grand dinner to welcome his future daughter-in-law, and because Annie loved music, he decided to introduce her to the music masters he knew. Seeing the farce getting worse, Gloria became jealous because she knew about Anne's existence.
