Synopsis of Saving Jessica Lynch

Jessica Lynch is 20 years old and serves in the 507th Machinery Company of the 3rd Mechanical Infantry Division of the US Army. On March 23 this year, just a few days after the war in Iraq started, her column encountered the Iraqi army in Nasiriyah, southern Iraq. Lynch was seriously injured and captured, and was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. On April 2, the US military special forces directed a real-life version of "Saving Private Ryan" and rescued Lynch. The incident was sensationalized by the media at the time, and Lynch became the most famous hero in the Iraq war. However, soon afterwards, some people questioned Lynch's "heroic deeds", saying that it was just a show by the US military to promote its "heroism." On July 21, Lynch received the Purple Heart Medal at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, the capital of the United States. Lynch, a captured female soldier who was rescued during the Iraq War, left the Army hospital on the 22nd and returned to her home in West Virginia.
