Synopsis of Great Rescue

At the end of April 1932, the Japanese invaders held a celebration for the victory of the Songhu War in Shanghai's Hongkou Park. Unexpectedly, the interim police chief of the Republic of Korea, Kim Goo, planned an explosion that resulted in the death of the Japanese dispatched commander in Shanghai on the spot. After that, Jin Jiu publicly claimed responsibility for the incident. Japan became angry and offered a reward of 600,000 yuan for Jin Jiu's capture. Chu Fucheng (played by Zhao Wenxuan), a famous Jiaxing scholar who holds an important position in the Zhejiang government, admires Jin Jiu's courage, so he takes huge risks to provide him with shelter. The national situation is in turmoil, and bandits are scurrying around. Hou Jingzong (played by Wang Shuangbao), the pseudo-county magistrate of Jiaxing who is greedy for profit, hates Chu Fucheng, colludes with the Japanese invaders, and secretly sends spies to Chu's house to investigate the whereabouts of Jin Jiu.
