Synopsis of Marcela Season 1
This is a mixed-genre eight-episode crime drama created by Hans Rosenfeldt, the creator of the famous Danish-Swedish drama series "Bron/Broen". You may not be familiar with "Bron/Broen", but you must be familiar with its American adaptation (and British adaptation, and adaptations in more than 10 countries around the world) - "The Bridge". This is the first new drama developed by Hans Rosenfeldt specifically for the British television market, adhering to his consistent style: any character in the drama may become a victim, witness or suspect at any time. The protagonist Marcella Backland (Anna Friel) is a nearly 40-year-old female detective who left her beloved police job because of her marriage 11 years ago. Marcella's marriage ended suddenly - her husband Jason (Nicholas Pinnock) suddenly declared that he no longer loved her and left her quickly - and her daughter hid in the boarding school and refused to see her, so she had to return to the familiar yet unfamiliar big city.
