Synopsis of opera libertine

The film tells the story of what happened during the creation of the opera "Don Giovanni" (Don Giovanni). The central character is not the genius Mozart, but the usually ignored lyricist Da Ponte. Da Ponte's life is as colorful as the characters in the opera. Of Jewish origin, he was forced to convert to Christianity and receive training as a priest. However, he was uninhibited and gave birth to a child to his sympathizer. Ignoring the condemnation, Da Ponte opened another brothel and was expelled from Venice. After arriving in Vienna, Da Ponte quickly met the king. As an opera lover, the king brought him and Mozart together and became partners. Da Ponte was impressed by his contemporary Casanova and persuaded Mozart to write a new opera, and this was "Don Giovanni". The film is the latest work launched by the Spanish master director Carlos Saura at the age of 78. It is set against the backdrop of the flashy opera sound and color scene in Italy in the 18th century, and reflects the process of artistic creation from a rather unique aspect. The protagonist of the film is Lorenzo da Ponte, an 18th-century Italian lyric poet and opera librettist.
