Synopsis of Tropic Thunder

Hollywood plans to shoot a war film titled "Tropic Thunder" about an elite American team that went to southeast Vietnam to perform a top-secret mission during the Vietnam War. The film cost a lot of money and has spectacular scenes. It is known as the most expensive Vietnam War film in history, and gathered Tucker Speedman (played by Ben Stiller), Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) Robert Downey Jr.), Jeff Portney (Jack Black) and other outdated or popular stars. In order to strive for authenticity, director Damien Kirkburn (played by Steve Coogan) even took the crew to Southeast Asia for filming. Since the beginning of filming, the film has been in constant trouble, with controversial topics frequently arising, and it finally got involved in a real local war... The film won the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Outstanding Contribution Award, the 2008 Hollywood Film Festival Annual Comedy Award, and the 2009 Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Actor (Brandon SooHoo).
