Synopsis of Gunpowder

BBC One has ordered a new three-episode drama "Gunpowder", inspired by the horror story about Guy Fawkes that Kit Harington watched in October last year. Yes, it is the prototype emulated by V in the movie "V for Vendetta". In 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of Catholics planted 36 barrels of explosives in the British Parliament Buildings in an attempt to assassinate James I, thus bringing the Catholics back to power. But the night before the assassination, the plan was revealed, Guy Fawkes was arrested and eventually executed. The British people still celebrate Guy Fawkes Night (Bonfire Night) on November 5, the day the plot was originally scheduled to be implemented. Joan Kit Harington will produce the show and play Robert Catesby, who planned the assassination. Mark Gatiss plays Robert Cecil, King James' secretary of state and spy chief.
