Synopsis of Babylon

The film focuses on early Hollywood in the 1920s, a transition period in the film industry from silent films to the talkies era. The film focuses on the careers and emotions of a pair of male and female protagonists, and follows the ups and downs of three other fictional characters during this period; they all have their own historical prototypes. In Los Angeles in 1926, Mexican immigrant Manny (played by Diego Calva) came to work as a handyman at a wild and wild party hosted by Kinoscope studio executives. Here he met Nellie LaRoy, a blonde girl from the bottom of New Jersey ( Margot Robbie); she just arrived in Los Angeles, wild and rude, but ambitious, hoping to become a movie star in Hollywood, and Manny also fell in love with her at first sight. Also attending this party were the already famous middle-aged actor Jack Conard (played by Brad Pitt) and the Chinese actress Fei Zhu (played by Li Lijun), as well as the African-American jazz trumpeter Sidney who was still working hard.
