Synopsis of The Boxer

Danny (Daniel Day-Lewis) was once a passionate revolutionary youth who was arrested for joining the Northern Ireland Republican Army. His difficult prison life lasted fourteen years. After finally surviving the long period of unfreedom, Danny returned to society and decided to change his mind and become a low-key ordinary person. After being released from prison, Danny resumed his old career and became a boxing coach, cultivating a group of young people who loved the sport as much as he did. An accident reunited Danny with his former lover Maggie (Emily Watson). At this time, Maggie was raising her 14-year-old son Lynn alone and had a very difficult life. The spark of old love rekindled between Danny and Maggie. However, the once gloomy past also made Danny full of hesitation and cowardice.
