Synopsis of Valley of the Dolls
Anne Welles: A heroine who is solemn and beautiful in appearance but full of emotions in her heart. She longs for true love throughout her life, rather than surrendering to being loved. She dumped her diamond boss when she was young, and dumped her cosmetics company director and best friend when she was approaching middle age. Jennifer commits suicide, turns against her best friend Nelly, and is ultimately heartbroken by her flirtatious first love, Leon Burke. (The movie version is played by Barbara Perkins) The prototype is the novel author Jay Susan herself. Neely O'Hara: At the age of 17, she came to New York to work hard and met Annie.
