Synopsis of This is Not a Movie

After twelve-year-old Robert Fisk saw "The Correspondent" (Hitchcock, 1940), he decided he wanted to be a foreign correspondent, like the hero played by Joel McCrea in the film. Fisk finally achieved his wish. Today, at the age of 73, he is still an active writer and war correspondent. But he learned early on that reality did not obey the laws of cinema, so the film was called: This Is Not a Movie. Wars don’t stop for journalists, and bad actors don’t always get their comeuppance. Yet Fisk remained steadfast, convinced that he had to let the world know what really happened in these dangerous places. His motto: Report what your eyes see.
