Synopsis of The Warlords

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, wars raged and the people were in dire straits. The eldest brother (played by Jet Li) was betrayed by his colleagues, and no one in his army survived. The eldest brother who survived because he pretended to be dead met Liansheng (played by Xu Jinglei) who had run away from home. After the two kept warm for a night, Liansheng left without saying goodbye. The eldest brother was discovered by his third brother (played by Takeshi Kaneshiro) on the street and brought back to the village, where he found out that he was actually the wife of Erhu (played by Andy Lau). The peasants tortured by poverty and hunger, led by the honest Erhu and the loyal Third Brother, robbed the official banknotes, causing the government to retaliate in the middle of the night. The eldest brother took the opportunity to encourage everyone to join the army to earn military pay and food. The three of them accepted the pledge and formed a bond of brotherhood, and set out to join the army with a mighty force of 108 people. This brotherly army worked hard and won many battles. It's just that the higher he climbs, the greater his ambition becomes. Erhu and his third brother can no longer control them, and differences gradually arise. The relationship between the eldest brother and Liansheng is discovered by the third brother, who mistakenly believes that Liansheng is the reason for the brothers' rebellion. He wanted to save Erhu by killing his sister-in-law. Faced with the court's deceit, the government's darkness, and the expansion of ambition, the three brothers who had submitted letters of surrender eventually killed each other...
