Synopsis of The Straight Story

Mr. Alvin Street (played by Richard Farnsworth) is in his seventies. Not only does he have a lonely and eccentric personality, but his eyesight is also deteriorating. Mr. Street and his daughter Rose (Sissy Spacek) depend on each other. Although the father and daughter live in poverty, they do not lose their peace and fun. The news that his brother Lyle (Harry Dean Stanton) is seriously ill broke the peaceful atmosphere in Mr. Street's family. Although the two brothers have not seen each other for nearly ten years due to previous conflicts, now that Mr. Street has entered old age and has experienced all the changes and impermanence of life, Mr. Street decided that it was time to make amends. A rift broke out between the brothers. In this way, Mr. Street drove his lawnmower on the road, and his destination was Wisconsin, 300 miles away.
