Synopsis of Red Desert

Ravenna, an industrial city in northern Italy, looks like a purgatory on earth with its ubiquitous factory noise, polluted rivers, desolate suburbs, and deserted streets. In the distance, a young woman dressed in green stopped among the giant towering chimneys and pipes that sucked out mist. In this filthy, desolate place, she seemed restless and dazed. It turns out that the husband of this slightly neurotic woman Juliana (played by Monica Vitti) is Ugo (played by Carlo Chionetti), the manager of the smelting plant. Ugo introduced her to his colleague Collard Zeller (Richard Harris).
