Synopsis of American Splendor

Harvey Baker (played by Paul Giamatti) is a file administrator in a hospital in Virginia, USA. He is not amazing in appearance and has distinctive independent thoughts since he was a child. However, his life is so bad. Harvey's job was boring and his two marriages were in a mess. In his spare time, he spent his spare time at home reading comics and listening to jazz records. By chance, Harvey met the cartoonist Robert Columbus (played by James Urbaniak). Inspired by him, Harvey decided to publish his life in the form of comics. It seems that everything has changed... The film is adapted from the comic book by Harvey Pekar and won the 2003 Cannes Film Festival International Film Critics' FIPRESCI Award Special Salute, the 2003 New York Film Critics Association Best Actress and Best Debut Award and other major films. Nearly 30 awards.
