Synopsis of Boat People

Japanese photojournalist Akutagawa (Lin Zixiang) returned to the newly liberated Vietnam three years later to cover. The vitality everywhere made him feel happy. However, when he accidentally walked into another corner of the city and met the local girl Qin Niang (Mas Chen), he... Little did he know that what he had seen before was just a false image of peace specially arranged by the Vietnamese Communist government for foreign journalists like him. Under Qin Niang's unintentional "tour guide", Akutagawa gradually saw the miserable lives of Vietnamese civilians in dire straits. The self-esteem of Qin Niang's family, the only remaining bar owner (Miao Qianren) after the war, and her lover Zu Ming (Andy Lau) who was trying to escape Vietnam, who were trampled on by the Viet Cong, strongly touched Akutagawa's sensitive and kind heart. Although he does not have the ability to completely change their fate, he still tries his best to help.
