Synopsis of Tangerine

At the Sundance International Film Festival, a film called Tangerine received a lot of attention. The theme of this film is very novel. It tells the story of a transgender prostitute working in a less glamorous corner of Hollywood; the character is cold, interesting, and has a personality that never lets anyone be bullied. However, the most surprising thing is that the director of this film, Sean Baker, gave up professional film shooting equipment and chose iPhone 5s to shoot the film. Many amateur filmmakers use iPhones to record movies, but Tangerine is the first film to be shot entirely on iPhones and shown at the Sundance Film Festival. Baker shot the video on an iPhone 5s and used the $8 video app FilmicPro. Baker said that he chose to shoot with an iPhone because of his limited budget. Of course, there are certain advantages to shooting with an iPhone, such as Wu Xuan purchasing a film shooting permit from the Los Angeles City Hall.
