Synopsis of On Her Shoulders
Although the Kurdish girl Nadia Murad is only 23 years old, she has experienced inhumane experiences: her whole family was brutally murdered by the "Islamic State" organization, and she became a sex slave. She was determined to bring the suffering of her fellow citizens to light, even as she faced painful memories and privacy revelations. Female director Alexandria Pombach truly recorded Murad's double life as both a victim and a brave warrior through the lens. Won the Best Director Award in the Documentary Section of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
