The Butler

Synopsis of The Butler

In 1926, Cecil, a young boy, witnessed his father being shot and killed by a farmer in the cotton fields of Georgia. From then on, racial discrimination cast a lifelong shadow in his heart. In the late 1950s, Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker), who was living in Washington, was unexpectedly appreciated by the head of the White House internal affairs and was elected to work as a catering service at the center of national politics. He kept his boss's teachings in mind, observed words and expressions, and dissolved himself in the air. In the years that followed, Cecil served Eisenhower (Robin Williams), Kennedy (James Marsden), Johnson (Liev Schreiber), Nixon (John Cusack) (played by Alan Rickman) and other presidents who each wrote an important chapter in American history. Focusing on the civil rights struggle of black people, he, the president, his family and his compatriots also experienced unforgettable moments...
