Synopsis of Lotus

Xiao He (played by Tan Zhuo) is a free-thinking and open-minded teacher who works in a village in northern China. For her, the experience of learning is the joy of discovering something new, which does not mean adhering to the same old rules. Her students liked her, but her colleagues disliked her rebellious mentality. When they discover that her lover is a married man, she is forced to leave school. She decided to move to Beijing, where she thought she could lend her creativity to a job as a journalist. However, her innate sense of freedom gets her into trouble and she is forced to work as a waitress to make a living. Marrying a rich man may be the only way out, it's time to choose: stay miserable, or betray your ideals and change your life...
