Synopsis of Rome

An old writer welcomes a young reporter to his home. He is a writer's assistant and will assist the Spanish-based writer in completing an autobiography. Continuous conversation will bring back some of the writer's memories, those memories that made him sad. In the flashback, the audience will see his childhood in Argentina, his love, and his understanding of life. If there are any cliches in this film, one would say that they are cast into a unique style that makes them compelling. It should be mentioned its characteristics as an Argentinian film: good performances, solid script. Perhaps the pace of the movie is slow, it is two and a half hours long, but the great performances of the leading actors appropriately make up for the lack of watchability of the movie. There are also beautiful photography, excellent directing skills, a soundtrack that makes you unable to miss a note, and references to old movies such as "The Grapes of Wrath", which bring back memories of the old days in the 1960s and 1970s. All of this has a warm, nostalgic feel to it, reminiscent of an era of tango and jazz. It is difficult for people to know whether this film has an autobiographical component of the director, but it undoubtedly constitutes an important part of understanding Argentinian cinema...
