Synopsis of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three

Four gangsters, led by Robert Shaw, ransacked the New York City subway, took eighteen passengers hostage, and threatened the city government to pay a $1 million ransom within an hour, otherwise they would start killing the hostages. The police chief played by Walter Matthau was dealing with gangsters on behalf of the city government, and on the other hand he was angry with the employees of the subway company, making the crisis escalate as time went by. Unexpectedly, after the four gangsters succeeded, the police chief discovered the identity of one of the robbers through clever tricks.
