Synopsis of The Passion of Marie

Two-time Palme d'Or winner and Danish director Billy August's new film "The Passion of Marie" tells the story of two famous painters in Danish history, Peder Severin Kroyer and his wife Marie. After winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, the Palme d'Or and the Golden Globe for "Pell the Conqueror", August became internationally famous. He has been making films abroad. In 1992, the Swedish-language "Betrayal" won the Palme d'Or again. Award, and "The Passion of Marie" will be his first Danish film in 14 years. Kroyer studied in Paris and introduced Impressionism to Denmark. At the age of 37, he met Marie, who was 16 years younger than him, but his unstable mental state ruined their marriage. Marie later left him and married the famous Swedish composer Hugo Alphen.
