In the Heart of the Sea

Synopsis of In the Heart of the Sea

The film is adapted from the novel by Nathaniel Philbrick. The story tells the story of a real-life shipwreck experienced by the Essex whaling ship. In 1819, the ship sank in the South Pacific after being struck by a whale as big as the one described by Melville in "Moby Dick." The surviving sailors were crowded into three small boats and drifted on the sea for 90 days. During this period, they experienced illness and hunger, and eventually evolved into killing each other and cannibalism.
