Synopsis of Show Me a Hero

This play is adapted from Lisa Belkin's documentary novel. The protagonist of the story, Nick Wasicsko (Oscar Isaac), is the mayor of Yonkers, New York, and the youngest mayor in American history. He was forced to confront fierce racial tensions when a federal court ordered him to build a certain number of affordable housing for low-income people in predominantly white neighborhoods. If he insists on completing this task, it will inevitably divide the city, completely paralyze the city government, and ultimately destroy his own political future. Catherine Keener plays Mary Dorman, a private homeowner in East Yonkers who plays a key role in this war to build affordable affordable housing. ——Tianya Xiaozhu
