Synopsis of Perfect Number
The film is adapted from the masterpiece "The Devotion of Suspect X" by Japanese mystery writer Keigo Higashino. It was originally called "Perfect Love", but was later changed to "Suspect X" which is close to the original work. The only pleasure of the taciturn genius mathematician Kim Seok-gu (played by Ryu Seung-bum) every day is to buy lunch at a regular bento shop, just to take a look at his neighbor Baek Hwa-sun (played by Lee Yao-won) who works in the bento shop. Hua Shan and her niece Yoona depend on each other and live a peaceful life, but there is an ex-husband, Kim Cheol-min, who is always looking for trouble. Finally one day, Hua Shan couldn't bear the abuse and finally killed her ex-husband who came to entangle her. After Shi Gu discovered the fact that Hua Shan killed someone in self-defense, he offered to take care of the aftermath. For this crime, he designed a perfect alibi to ensure that Hua Shan and Yoona would not be implicated. Police officer Zheng (played by Zhao Zhenxiong) who is responsible for investigating the case is Shi Gu's friend and has no doubts about the identity of Huashan's murderer. Although there is no conclusive evidence, he still persists in launching the investigation. What kind of hiding method did Shi Gu use? Will he die for love in the end?
