Synopsis of Dark Room

Ten years ago, the third-rate novelist Nakata Shuichi (played by Shimizu Koji) suspected that his wife was having an affair with Tsunoki, a good friend in the publishing industry. This incident made him brood, and the relationship between the couple became increasingly cold. In the following five years, Tsunoki flourished in the publishing world, but Nakata's wife unfortunately died in an accident. After that, Nakata became slightly famous by writing an erotic novel about his experiences, and he also chose to lead a debauched life. He was originally shy and introverted, but he has become a romantic man with many lovers. Among the lovers are the famous ikebana teacher, Xiang Zhi, a reader who is obsessed with his works, and Maggie, a maverick lesbian. Sometimes flowers bloom like brocade, but after the hustle and bustle, only infinite loss and sadness are left... This film is adapted from the original work by Junnosuke Yoshiyuki and is a commemorative work for the 70th anniversary of Nikkatsu.
