Synopsis of Valkyrie
After a storm, Sieglinde rescues an injured stranger. They fell in love, only to discover that this was her long-lost twin brother Siegmund, both of whom were illegitimate children of Wotan, the king of the gods. Sieglinde's husband Hunding duels with Siegmund, and Siegmund is killed due to the troubles of Wotan and Queen Flicka. The Valkyrie Brünnhilde rescues Sieglinde and predicts that the child in her belly will be the future hero Siegfried. Wagner's music always enchants people and creates the illusion of gods. "Die Walküre" is the second part of Wagner's tetrad "The Ring of the Nibelung". The complex family relationships in the play are entangled, and the incestuous love between brother and sister Siegmund and Sieglinde is even more thrilling. In his music, Wagner explored the human weaknesses of the gods and praised the heroic spirit of the German nation. Wotan's self-discovery and final abdication was the core idea when Keith Warner created "The Ring of the Nibelung" for the Royal Opera House in 2005.
