Synopsis of A Promise

Fried (Richard Madden) is a very promising young man. By chance, he met a man named Hofmeister (Alan Rickman) industrialist. Hofmeister invited Fried to work under him, and Fried met Hofmeister's wife Lott (Rebecca Hall). Hofmeister admired Fried's aggressiveness and clever mind very much, so he invited him to live in his home and became the young master's tutor. Over time, Fried and Lott became familiar with each other, and the two lonely people couldn't help but be attracted to each other. However, this relationship was destined to be fruitless. In the end, Fried traveled far away and Lott stayed behind. The two relied on correspondence to resolve the pain of lovesickness. The war broke out, and Fried soon lost contact with him in the distance.
