Synopsis of Mildred Pierce

The play is adapted from the classic noir novel (noirnovel) of the same name, starring Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet. The story takes place during the Great Depression in the United States. The heroine Mildred Pierce Beragon broke up with her unemployed husband Bert (Brian F. O'Byrne) and relied on a waitress job to make ends meet. On the one hand, she wants to maintain her social status, but on the other hand, she longs for independence and freedom. While running for life, she also wants to do everything possible to win the love and respect of her daughter Veda (Evan Rachel Wood). Guy Pearce plays Mildred's lover, a wealthy playboy. James LeGros plays Bert's former business partner. Melissa Leo plays Mildred's friend. Morgan Turner plays childhood Vada.
