Synopsis of Samsara

The smart musical notes and dance steps, as well as the innocent and faith-filled eyes, start a journey of contemplation about the endless reincarnations of the beginningless eons. Bagan, with its numerous pagodas and temples, and its gorgeous and solemn churches, has been mankind's yearning for divinity and even enlightenment for thousands of years. Time flies, things and I are forgotten, wind, water, rain and fire smear the face of the earth wantonly. The so-called noble life leaves no trace in the heart of nature, no more than a trace of dust after it has shattered throughout the three thousand worlds. However, all living beings are turned upside down, and the moment seems to be eternity. They rush around day and night without stopping, and use mud and blades to smear their faces. He claims to be the lord of all things and controls the lives of you, me and others. From the sky to the earth, from the mountains to the deep ocean, he conquered the dreamlike world of artifacts and decorated it with bizarre toys, but in the end he was inevitably defeated in the eternal cycle of reincarnation. Everything is impermanent, just like the gorgeous and solemn mandala. When gently wiped, it returns to dust... The film took five years to shoot and traveled to 25 countries on five continents. It won the Critics' Award for Best Documentary at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival.
