Synopsis of General Rovere

During World War II, retired Italian soldier Gerry Malti claimed to be a general and swindled around. Unexpectedly, he was captured by a German officer and his identity was revealed. In order to save his life, Gerry colluded with the German side and pretended to be the late General Rovere and sneaked into the concentration camp to search for intelligence. During this period, he witnessed and experienced the torture of the Germans. At the last moment, he came to his senses and volunteered to be shot together with the nine prisoners. He shouted "Long live Italy" before his death. The film's star, Vittorio De Sica, was born in Italy.
