Synopsis of Million Dollar Mermaid

This film is adapted from a true story and creates a new performing art form of musicals - synchronized swimming. The heroine Anne Keller (Esther Williams) is the daughter of an ordinary music teacher. I originally wanted to use swimming to treat the leg disease I had suffered since childhood, but unexpectedly I developed a unique swimming skill. Because her father was transferred to work, Anne went to London with her father. On the boat, I met James Sullivan (Victor Mature), a gigolo. He wanted to use Annie's performance in a swimsuit to promote the show, but unexpectedly, Annie became the focus of the media and became famous. Then Annie's water ballet performance got out of control and became a sensation. This film was nominated for the 1953 Oscar (American Film Academy Award) for Best Cinematography (Color Film).
