Synopsis of The Wire Season 1

The first season focuses on the Baltimore City Police investigation of the Barksdale drug cartel. The investigation all started because of Detective Jimmy McNulty. In the trial of DeAngela Barksdale, a key witness temporarily recanted her confession, allowing DeAngela to be exonerated. After the court, McNulty revealed to Judge Daniel Phelan that the witness may have been forced to change his story after being threatened by the men of the defendant's uncle, Ivan Barksdale, because he saw Ivan at the trial.
