Synopsis of The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

The Duval family is a family of five living in the suburbs of a French city. Robert (Jacques Gamblin), a taxi driver, and his wife Marie-Jean (Zabou Breitman) raised their three children together. The eldest son Albert (played by Pio Marmaï) left home early and started living alone outside; the second son Raphael (played by Marc-André Grondin) is a careless young man who seems to be indifferent to everything; the youngest daughter Flor (played by Déborah François) has been obedient since childhood. The girl turns into a rebellious girl, and her rebellion often makes her mother unhappy. Albert's departure made Mary extremely sad. After that, she turned to study and worked hard to pursue her dreams. As time goes by, parents, children, brothers and sisters each have their own concerns, but something always seems to pull their relationship apart... The film won three awards at the 2009 French César Film Festival for Best Editing, Best New Actor (Marc-André Grondin) and Best New Actress (Déborah François).
