Synopsis of The Banquet

During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, there were many disturbances and endless battles. The late emperor died mysteriously, and Emperor Li (played by Ge You) usurped the throne and took the late emperor's beautiful queen (played by Zhang Ziyi) as his own. In order to protect herself, the queen had no choice but to flatter Emperor Li. However, she has greater, unknown ambitions in her heart. The prince (played by Daniel Wu) is the son of the late emperor. The pain of his father's death made him determined to give up the life of an artist and began the road of revenge. However, his hesitant nature left him scarred on the road to revenge, and the queen, as his stepmother, filled him with emotional entanglements. Qingnv (played by Zhou Xun) has been promised to be the prince's wife. She was infatuated with the prince, but in the end she ruined her youth. Qingnv's brother (played by Huang Xiaoming) is young and vigorous, has a close relationship with his sister, and is deeply involved in this struggle. On this day, Emperor Li held a night banquet.
