Synopsis of Grassroots

The story originates from real events in the 2001 Seattle City Council election. Grant Cogswell's grassroots campaign was unsuccessful. His campaign manager Phil Campbell published his campaign experience in a book "Zion Check for President". This film is adapted from the book. The film was written and directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, Jake Gyllenhaal's father, with Joe Moore playing an idealist participating in the campaign and Jason Biggs playing his campaign assistant.
