After the robbery, Juan met John (played by James Coburn), a blasting expert from the Irish Revolutionary Army. The latter's blasting ability made robbing the Mesa Verde Bank a piece of cake, so Juan followed him hard, but inadvertently got involved in cooperating with the Vera Revolutionary Army. Mesa Verde Riots. Juan got his wish and partnered with John to rob the bank, but all he gained was the liberation of 150 political prisoners. The government army colonel Gunter led the army to suppress the revolution, and Juan and the revolutionary team paid a heavy price. In adversity, John and Juan developed a true revolutionary friendship. On their way to the United States, the two turned back to stop Colonel Gaunt. When John was shot, the old soldier saw the warm scenes of the past in Ireland... The film won the 1972 Italian David Award for Best Director.
