Synopsis of The Caller
Jimmy Stevens, a senior vice president at an international energy company, blew the whistle on corporate corruption in Latin America. When he learned that he would be assassinated for betrayal, he made an anonymous phone call and asked private detective Frank Turlotte to follow him. Turlotte didn't know that the person who hired him was the same person he was tracking. He started a cat and mouse game with Jimmy, and New York became a gladiatorial arena with an unknown outcome. Slowly, clues emerged during the investigation, revealing Jimmy's mysterious life and many stories from the past. When evidence of his childhood during World War II is unearthed, the haunting memories surrounding a lonely, injured man and the two young men who would bear witness to his dying breath become key. As the clock ticks and the hired gun gets closer to Jimmy, Turlotte has just enough time to piece the puzzle together and complete his mission, all set in stone when he first heard the call from his visitor. The film premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival and won the New York Narrative Award.
