Synopsis of tokyo sonata

The youngest son of the Sasaki family, Kenji (played by Ino Rikai), secretly practices piano. Dad Ryuhei (played by Kagawa Teruyuki) is an ordinary office worker. Mom Megumi (played by Kyoko Koizumi) is a housewife. Brother Gui (played by Yu Xiaoyanagi) is a college student who is busy working part-time. This is a very ordinary Japanese family at first glance, but in fact everyone has secrets that they don’t want others to know. Until Kenji returned to his empty home one day, everything began to surface... This film uses a Tokyo family of four as a microcosm, showing its internal turmoil in detail and outlining the struggles of each member. It thus captures the lives of countless people in Tokyo and even Japan under turbulent situations such as changes in the world economic structure, financial crises, and war in the Middle East. Survival situation. This film was selected as one of the top ten Japanese films in the 2008 "Film Weekly". Won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard category at the Cannes Film Festival. Won two awards for Best Screenplay and Best Film at the 3rd Asian Film Awards (AFA).
