Synopsis of Sorry We Missed You

The story takes place in Newcastle, northern England. Due to the subprime mortgage crisis, Ricky (played by Kris Hitchen) not only lost his job, but also shouldered a huge debt. In order to make ends meet, Ricky took out a loan to buy a small truck and prepared to start his second career by delivering goods. Little did he know that his unthinking move caused irreparable damage to the entire family. Ricky's wife Abby (Debbie Honeywood) is a domestic worker who specializes in serving disabled people and the elderly. Now she has to rely on buses to commute to different employers' homes, which makes her feel very tired . In order to repay the loan for the truck, Ricky had to spend more time at work, which made their eldest son Seb (Rhys Stone) feel left out.
