Synopsis of The Peacemaker

In a remote Russian garrison area, two trains collided and exploded. Then a bizarre nuclear explosion occurred, causing heavy casualties in Russia. Dr. Julia Kelly (Nicole Kidman) of the White House Anti-Nuclear Smuggling Intelligence Unit suspects that the nuclear accident was not an accident. In order to trace the origin of the explosion and find out the truth behind it, Julia and Thomas Weir (played by George Clooney), a second lieutenant of the Army Special Forces, were ordered to investigate. During their arduous investigation, they discovered a shocking conspiracy. A nuclear terrorist posing as a politician has entered the United States with a nuclear warhead and intends to blow up the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Female director Mimi Leder's film debut "Doomsday Alert" is adapted from articles by senior investigative reporters Andrew Coburn and Leslie Coburn. The material is derived from declassified intelligence collected by the Coburns. and real news events.
