Synopsis of The Defiant Ones

Carlin, a black man, and Jackson, a white man, were chained together in a prison car. During the escape, although Jackson, a white man, looked down on black people and made things difficult for Carlin at every turn, Carlin helped his companions escape regardless of past suspicions and restored his lost good character and love for others. This is an excellent work against racial discrimination. It won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography and the Academy Award for Best Screenplay at the 31st (1958) Academy Awards. It also won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay at the 8th West Berlin International Film Festival in 1958. Actor Award.
