Synopsis of Taking Chances
This is also a children's film from the Netherlands, which won the Jury Prize at this year's Cinekid Film Festival. The nine-year-old girl Kiek is worried that her father, a United Nations doctor, will die on the battlefield. This worry takes her into a magical corner of her imagination. The most noteworthy aspect of the film is that the little girl's imaginary world is all presented through stop-motion animation effects. The title of the film actually refers to a famous Dutch snack, French fries dipped in salad dressing or peanut butter, but it has an exaggerated name like "Fries War". And in the little girl's imagination, why isn't everything so serious?
