Synopsis of Triple Frontier

Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal and Adria Horner star in Triple Frontier, J.C. Chando Er will direct from a script he has rewritten based on Mark Ball's. It tells the story of five friends who reunite to take down a drug lord, only to have a series of unexpected consequences. The "trilateral border" refers to the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, where the Iguazu and Paraná rivers meet, making the area difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime. This project can be traced back to 2009, when Kathryn Bigelow was preparing to shoot the film after "The Hurt Locker". In April 2017, it was reported that Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum both withdrew due to dissatisfaction with the script rewritten by J.C. Chandor, which was only four weeks before the film was scheduled to start shooting. Less than a month later, in early May, foreign media first reported that Netflix was interested in taking over the project and wanted to invite brothers Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck to fill the vacancy and co-star with Mahershala Ali.
