Synopsis of Captain Phillips

In 2009, the American freighter "Maersk Alabama", led by Captain Richard Philip (played by Tom Hanks), performed a cargo transportation mission in the Horn of Africa. The route of this mission passes through the waters of Somalia where piracy is rampant. Although Captain Philip and the crew had conducted anti-pirate training and exercises, they did not expect to be attacked by four Somali pirates boarding the ship shortly after setting off. Captain Philip was unfortunately taken hostage by pirates and taken away from the cargo ship while fighting to protect the crew and cargo. After receiving the intelligence, the U.S. Navy and other departments immediately launched a large-scale rescue operation to rescue Captain Phillips. This film is adapted from real events. This is the first time in nearly 200 years that a U.S. ship has been hijacked by pirates.
