Synopsis of Broken Embraces
Mateo Blanco (played by Lluís Homar) was once a famous film director. After losing his sight in a car accident, he changed his name to Harry Kane and lived a quiet life as a screenwriter. One day in 2008, a young man named Ray (Rubén Ochandiano) visited Harry. Ray's idea for a movie once again opened the door to Harry's long-closed memory. In 1994, Matteo was preparing to shoot a new film, and the beautiful girl Lena (played by Penélope Cruz) stood out in the audition. Lena is the female secretary of Ernest Martel (played by José Luis Gómez), the owner of a company, and the two have always maintained an ambiguous relationship. In order to treat her father who was suffering from cancer, Lena committed herself to Ernest and became his mistress. Ernest couldn't stand Lena's request and agreed to invest and let her star in Matteo's new film. During the filming process, Lena and Matteo had a spark of love, and all this was quickly learned by the sensitive Ernest. Love, hate, and hatred have been entangled ever since...
