Synopsis of Insecure Season 1

Contemporary black women are often endowed with strong, confident and "perfect" qualities, but these are obviously far from Issa (Issa Rae) and Jasmine (Yvonne Orji). The best friends deal with the imperfections of their real lives while trying to play different roles and face a series of unpleasant daily experiences. Over the course of this season, Issa attempts to figure out what she wants out of life and how to take control of it, while fumbling her way through this journey. Jasmine, a corporate lawyer who appears to have everything in order on the outside, is struggling on the inside as she looks for external ways to manage her life. At the same time, Issa's boyfriend, Lawrence (Jay Ellis), is deeply complacent and urgently needs to lead a more orderly life. Issa's colleague Frieda (Lisa Joyce) is an overeager white man whose optimism is both loved and hated; at work, she is the cause of Issa's frustration because of racial issues The main reason for the feeling.
