Synopsis of Encounters at the End of the World

The documentary was written, directed and narrated by Werner Herzog, recording his and the crew's journey to Antarctica to photograph local creatures, residents and unique geographical features. This documentary is not a film about the famous penguins in Antarctica, but an exploration of human life in Antarctica and the magnificent and magical beauty of Antarctica. They went to the McMurdo Station on Ross Island, the largest scientific research center in Antarctica operated by the U.S. National Science Foundation's Antarctic Program, for filming. There they interviewed some people who provided support in operations, logistics, IT and maintenance. After becoming members, they went to seal bases, diving camps and other places where humans camped in Antarctica.
